Transferring qualified lawyers
The BSB may exempt a transferring lawyer from some or all components of Bar training depending on existing rights of audience, qualifications and experience. “Full exemption” is a regulatory decision—not a promise made by PupilPath or an adviser.

Md Shafiqur Rahman founded The Bar Register to make pupillage research more transparent, evidence-based and accessible for aspiring barristers. His vision is to combine independent legal research with responsible technology to help applicants make informed decisions throughout every stage of their journey to the Bar.
His legal career spans more than two decades, beginning with his first law degree in 2004 and continuing through further legal qualifications in Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. He holds two law degrees and a Diploma of Higher Education in Law, completed his LLB at Birkbeck, University of London with upper second-class honours, and is enrolled on the Bar Vocational Studies programme at City St George's, University of London.
Throughout his studies he has demonstrated a strong commitment to legal scholarship, including producing first-class research on transitional justice and publishing academic articles in international legal journals.
Alongside his academic work, he has gained practical insight into advocacy through multiple mini-pupillages, long-term court observation and shadowing experienced barristers across the First-tier Tribunal, Upper Tribunal, Administrative Court and Court of Appeal. His experience includes observing advocacy, legal strategy and case preparation in immigration, public law and related proceedings, enabling him to understand both the academic and practical demands of securing pupillage and developing a career at the Bar.
Drawing on this combination of legal practice, academic research and first-hand experience of chambers, he leads The Bar Register's independent research, editorial standards and applicant guidance, with the aim of helping future barristers navigate the profession with greater confidence and access to reliable information.
Rashik Ishrak Nahian leads the technology strategy for The Bar Register, overseeing the design and development of its artificial intelligence platform and digital infrastructure.
An experienced technology entrepreneur and software engineer, he has held leadership roles across international technology communities and organisations, including Mozilla, Google Developer Group Dhaka and Wezapps Limited. His expertise spans artificial intelligence, software architecture, cybersecurity, cloud technologies and large-scale digital platforms. At The Bar Register, he is responsible for ensuring that AI tools are accurate, secure, transparent and designed to support applicants responsibly.

Called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn and an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, he brings substantial international legal experience across litigation, constitutional law, human rights and professional legal education. His current roles include counsel appointments with international organisations and legal advisory work in Bangladesh. Within The Bar Register, he provides guidance to applicants seeking exemptions from Bar training requirements under the Bar Standards Board's published framework, including applications by transferring qualified lawyers. He helps candidates understand the relevant rules, organise supporting evidence, and assess application readiness. Decisions on exemptions remain solely the responsibility of the Bar Standards Board.
